Event – May 9th, 2018
This Third Thursday Meet-Up, you can learn how HumanSurge developed a great idea into a platform with more than 10.000 registered users and help them with the next step!
Humanitarian Start-up – From idea phase to proof of concept and beyond
Loek Peeters (founder of HumanSurge), will present its trajectory of the last two years in a nutshell. Growing from zero, to a platform with thousands of registered users which makes successful matches, enabling NGOs to scale-up operations in emergencies such as the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. He will highlight challenges and lessons learned along the way. Ending with a brief explanation of its current stage and upcoming developments.
HumanSurge can change the way humanitarian work finds professionals with an online platform connecting jobs to jobseekers in the humanitarian world. To improve candidate screening of both national and international humanitarian professionals, HumanSurge wants to introduce peer-to-peer verification, ratings and related concepts which are now common practice in many sectors.
What is your experience with peer-to-peer verification? What information do you trust? What is your experience with Linkedin, AirBNB, or even Booking.com or Tripadvisor? What references are relevant and important? And offline, what do you value in peer-to-peer verification? We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this during this DCHI Third Thursday Meet-Up!
