Event – June 15th, 2018
Are you curious to know how you can use solar-panels in emergency aid? Would you like to know what requirements to keep in mind, if you want to develop wind-energy solutions for humanitarian settings? Or do you want to know what the options are to support a transition to cleaner and more efficient ways of cooking? Join our meetup on Energy!
On the 21st of June the Third Thursday Meetup on Energy will take place at the Field Lab Smart Base in Soesterberg. Amidst the innovative solutions being developed and tested here, we will discuss innovation in energy for humanitarian settings. During the longest day of the year we will inspire humanitarians to integrate innovative energy-solutions in their programming, and support innovators, companies, and researchers to understand the energy-needs within humanitarian programming better.
The session on 21st of June is planned from 14.00 to 17.00, with drinks after. Transport to and from the nearby trainstation of Amersfoort can be arranged. Make sure to bring a valid ID or driving license with you to enter the premises.
The programme is planned from 14.00 to 17.00, with drinks after. There will be a lot of opportunities for interaction and discussions, and we will cover the following points;

The need for an energy transition in development aid (Derk de Haan – RVO)
Humanitarian energy needs and programmes, including the following contributions:
Hivos Renewable Energy strategy and the Energia programme (Rob van Poelje and Sheila Oparaocha – HIVOS)
Developing the energy market in the context of refugee camps (Martijn Veen – SNV)
Energy solutions and innovations:

Drinks and networking (Everyone)
Would you like to contribute to this session, for example by demonstrating a solution that you have developed, or sharing experiences in this field, we would love to know! Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, so we can discuss the options together.
